Cape Town - Deon Fourie, who led Western Province to Currie Cup glory as a loose forward, says he wants to return to playing hooker for the Stormers in next year's Super Rugby competition.
Fourie was often used at No 8 and flank due to a loose forward injury crisis in the Cape this year but is keen to return to his normal position for the Southern Hemisphere competition.
"I think for myself and the team it will be better if I move back to hooker. That's where I want to be. Guys like Schalk Burger
, Siya Kolisi
and Rynhardt Elstadt are coming back (from injury). They're all guys with heaps of talent and have proven themselves in their positions," he told Die Burger's website
"But you never know what can happen, maybe there are more injuries. I think we are blessed at hooker with Scarra (Ntubeni) who proved himself and Tiaan Liebenberg
who is a Springbok."
Fourie was recently also named as Currie Cup Player of the Year.
He has never played for the Springboks but says he will always keep on striving for the highest honour.
"If you don't have hope, you kill half of your dream," he said.
