Sonny says bye to NZ rugby

Sonny Bill Williams says honour is prompting him to leave the Chiefs and All Blacks for club rugby in Japan and that he would prefer not to.

Cape Town - Former Springbok Thys Burger has been accused of using his green and gold blazer to dupe charities and fund-raising organisations out of money.

He coughed up more than R50 000 this week, after Eyewitness News started investigating his activities.

While Burger, 57, has admitted he had not paid monies raised in the auctions he hosted, he said he fell on tough times and was unable to meet commitments.

Burger was capped three times for the Springboks at No 8, making his debut against the British and Irish Lions in Bloemfontein in 1980.

He is the father of former Cheetahs and Blitzbokke player, Phillip.
