Div to launch biography

2012-04-22 11:27

Cape Town - Former Springbok coach Peter de Villiers has announced that his biography will soon hit stores.

According to the Sunday Times, the biography will be published in June.

It is written by rugby writer Gavin Rich and carries a foreword by former Springbok captain John Smit.

De Villiers coached the national team from 2008-2011. His most notable achievements while coaching the Boks were a Tri-Nations trophy and a series victory over the British and Irish Lions in 2009.

Last week it was reported that De Villiers had approached the South African Rugby Union (SARU) about possible work.

De Villiers believes he gained valuable experience during his tenure at the Boks, which could be useful for the game in South Africa.

"I feel a bit useless at the moment. Sitting back home and nobody shows interest in trying to draw from experience that I do have," said De Villiers.

At least Divvy has earned the right to publish a book.....(unlike a certain other chap who published a biography hailing himself as a legend....when the truth is in fact the polar opposite...speaking of this 'chap' - take a look at this http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-union/union-match-report/steyn-leaves-his-mark-as-brave-brumbies-downed-by-superboot-20120422-1xejw.html) ***Warning - this image may offend sensitive viewers, Bulls fans and the "legend" himself*** PSSSS: On a postive note.....I am so relieved Meyer appointed this Bulls defence 'kenner' as a Bok assistant folk ***rolls eyes and pukes up Sunday roast***. Honestly chaps - just look at how much Spies and Steyn's defence has improved over the years under his guidance, he must be super good!!! Hehehehehehehe, Nienaber vs The Bulls chap - one only has to look at vd Heever to make an informed decision as to which one is better..... Have a good Sunday folk :) And remember - for every nasty P Divvy basher on these forums, there are even nastier bashers waiting to tear into your little heroes......

I'm still waiting for the tart's response as to where I said the Stormers were going to lose. But there's NOTHING, ZIP, NADA, ZILCH, POKKOL.

      Terence - 2012-04-22 13:32

By the way tart, you have an awesome defence coach, but still NO CUPS. Lick it!!!

      Saffa - 2012-04-22 13:50

Ahh old Brannas, back in the saddle.....hello 'ol Terry'. I enjoy your tantrums, I really do......but if I may? There is room for improvement in your 'tone', I'm not FEELING your petulance and bitterness as much as I should be. Something for you to work on possibly. I answered you in detail on the other thread hobbit. PS: What type of a tart am I? Jam? Strawberry? Apple? Lots of CT kisses xxxxxxxxxxxxx

      Terence - 2012-04-22 14:01

You answered me in detail? Have to disagree. Besides tart, I couldn't care less how you feel, honestly. Enjoy ANOTHER cupless year.

@Blouvitrioel, Ek dink 'n gepaste titel mag dalk wees: "How Earl Rose could have saved the Bokke"??!!?? Remember the Earl Rose vs Tiger Woods comparison? I really miss the man, he was a laugh a minute!!

      Tokolos - 2012-04-22 15:57

Saffa Cat looking for attention... AGAIN. To the Kitchen with you!

      Boetanev - 2012-04-22 17:40

@Rene please get your facts straight. He said RUAN PIENAAR is like the Tiger Woods of rugby.

      Ren%c3%a9 - 2012-04-22 17:58

@Boeta, a little quote from PDivvy June 2009: "‘I never make decisions unless I’m convinced, I would never play with players’ lives,’ the Bok coach snapped. ‘I don’t need [that match] to justify decisions. I’m sure Ruan will stand up to the challenge. ‘Ruan is the Tiger Woods of rugby and I believe Earl Rose is in the same class.’ Rose will play off the bench for the Golden Lions when they face their British & Irish counterparts on Wednesday. It’s a familiar position for the Lions’ utility player, but De Villiers says this is no reflection on his ability. I AM VERY SURE OF MY FACTS!!!

      Terence - 2012-04-22 18:13

Daarsy Boeta, daar slaan René jou naam met n plank, namens jou.

  • aubrey.gloster - 2012-04-22 11:59

      Ren%c3%a9 - 2012-04-22 12:54

@rugbyguru, please change your name! Obsessed much???

      Rugbyguru - 2012-04-22 13:20

@René; Pretty much, yeah .. I find it absolutely disgusting that ANYONE should be judged for ANYTHING just because of skin colour. P Div is not stupid just because he is of colour; but he is perceived as such by some dumb ass morons lying around on their couches in, where, shall we say Brakpan .? Which is another case of stereotyping I cannot agree with. Why not just see everything from a rugby point of view ? Even HM acknowledged the fact that his perception of players from unions other then the bulls changed drastically after his one on one sessions with them ..

      Terence - 2012-04-22 13:33

Rugbyguru, he's not stupid, just not much of a rugby coach.

      Ren%c3%a9 - 2012-04-22 13:50

@Rugbyguru, everyone is entitled to opinions, even if it is worthless! Anyway, colour aside, PdV had a contract with SARU with a begin date and an end date. Because of his skin colour, people think he MUST be helped by SARU. Image ALL previous coaches had to go knocking on SARU's door for work??? As much as I like Divvy for various reasons, (coaching not one), this is the real world! If PDivvy believes in his own abilities, he should have no problem in getting a job! On a previous blog, I believe he can add value to the junior development of rugby - but that's just my opinion. Back to the topic, I will definitely buy his book, should be quite humorous!

      Rugbyguru - 2012-04-22 14:10

@René; Just to point out: PDivvy went to SARU with a proposal on how he think he can help improve SA rugby. Which everybody with some form of a rugby brain knows he can. He did not go beg for a job. Just goes to show the type of caracter the has, does it not? And, if memory serves me correct, ol' Jake also once or twice let it rip that he'd love to get his old job back .. But (once again, I might add) the press simply HAD to have a go at Divvy again; twisting the story to make it "news worthy" .. Which, by itself, say a lot - especially if you note the type of people jumping on the bandwagon ..! But, anyway, lookin' forward 'to chattin' with you again - should be quite humorous ..!

      Terence - 2012-04-22 14:15

      Snor (guru), is that you?

      Tokolos - 2012-04-22 16:03

      Ren%c3%a9 - 2012-04-22 17:05

@Tokkie, dis waar! Hulle kry nie aandag tuis nie, dan soek hulle aandag op die blogs deur die grootste klomp "tripe" kwyt te raak.

      Tokolos - 2012-04-22 17:35

Rene... Tokolos think it is "Wimpie the Glamguru" rather than Rugbyguru. Same writing "style" and same profile pic as Simpel Wimpels!!! Hy is so skeef soos 'n 7 rand noot!

  • David - 2012-04-22 13:11

Is it going to be a picture pop-up book?

      Rugbyguru - 2012-04-22 13:22

Yes David; to make it easier for you to read ..

      David - 2012-04-22 16:34

For someone who cant read, I write quite well dont you think? I see your profile name compared to you is a bit of an oxymoron. Go ask Divvy what that word means

  • Cassandra Olivier - 2012-04-22 13:47

    Is it going under fiction?

      Rugbyguru - 2012-04-22 13:52

      Tokolos - 2012-04-22 16:05

  • Leon - 2012-04-22 19:08

"I feel a bit useless at the moment. Sitting back home and nobody shows interest in trying to draw from experience that I do have," said De Villiers. Divvie, experienced comedians are a dime a dozen, and yes, you were useless from Day One

  • jacques.weidemann - 2012-04-23 04:57

I managed to get a little sneak preview of the book: " When you are walking through the valley of death, never walk a mile in another man's shoes because that man might be behind you wanting his shoes back, and he will be throwing stones at your glass house. And thats who I am and I dont give a damn"
