Kings to be booted out of Currie Cup?

Cape Town - SA Rugby could ask the Leopards to replace the Eastern Province Kings in the upcoming Currie Cup Premier Division, a newspaper report indicates.

The financially stricken EP Rugby Union is set to be liquidated this week after a rescue business plan could not be initiated.

The EP Kings will therefore not be able to field a competitive team in the Currie Cup, with several frontline players having left Port Elizabeth after Super Rugby.

According to Rapport, SA Rugby could now ask the Potchefstroom-based Leopards to replace the Kings in the Currie Cup Premier Division.

The possibility also exists that the Kings may not even compete in the First Division.
