Fans predict Sharks, WP Currie Cup final

Cape Town - The Currie Cup final this year will be between the Sharks and Western Province at Kings Park, if local rugby lovers know their stuff and a Sport24 poll is to be believed.

We asked readers who they thought would contest the final ahead of this weekend's semi-finals, which will see the Sharks host the Blue Bulls and then WP host the Golden Lions.

The vote attracted over 2500 votes, and while the two semi-final hosts were tipped to win on Saturday, there wasn't much in it.

31% of the participants believe that the Sharks and WP will get the job done in front of their own crowds before contesting the final next weekend, but 29% believe that the Golden Lions will beat WP at Newlands and take on the Sharks in the final.

There are 22% who believe that the final will be contested between the Golden Lions and Blue Bulls, while 18% predict a WP v Blue Bulls final.

According to local bookmakers Sportingbet, the most likely final is the Sharks v Golden Lions.

The Sharks v Blue Bulls match kicks off at 14:30 on Saturday followed by WP v the Golden Lions at 17:00.
