Cape Town - Former Springbok coach Peter de Villiers says he knows nothing about a possible offer to be the new Boland head coach.
De Villiers was earlier this month linked to the Boland job after Brent Janse van Rensburg resigned under mysterious circumstances.
Janse van Rensburg's resignation came after Boland’s director of rugby, Alan Zondagh, quit the week prior, citing political interference from the union’s board as a reason for his departure.
Janse van Rensburg has since been appointed as head coach of the Nelspruit-based Pumas.
But De Villiers - who coached the Boks between 2008 and 2011 - told Die Son he has not been in contact with Boland.
“I’m reading in the papers that I may be a candidate and that they won’t be able to afford me. How can you ask me if I’m available for the job if I’ve received no offer?" De Villiers questioned.
De Villiers currently works in Namibia as a development coach for the local financial provider Trustco’s Centre of Excellence.
De Villiers also confirmed that current Bok coach Allister Coetzee had phoned him to invite him to this week's coaching indaba in Cape Town, but that he turned it down as he was on his way to Namibia.
