Cape Town - Western Province flank Rynhardt Elstadt on Wednesday was suspended for three weeks for charging into a ruck dangerously in their Absa Currie Cup clash against the EP Kings last Friday.
Elstadt received a yellow card for the incident, which was in breach of Law 10.4 (h), in the 57th minute of the match and was subsequently cited. He appeared at a SARU disciplinary hearing in Cape Town on Tuesday.
Law 10.4 (h) states that a player must not charge into a ruck or maul without the use of the arms or without grasping a player.
The Judicial Officer, Advocate Rob Stelzner, on Wednesday released his judgement which described the incident as a mid-range offence.
After taking all mitigating factors into account he suspended Elstadt for three weeks.
The player
will be allowed to return to action on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, in time for WP's penultimate Currie Cup match away against the Free State Cheetahs.
