WP to target breakdown area

Cape Town - WP forwards coach Matt Proudfoot says their clash against Griquas will be won and lost at the collision point - an area they will look to target.

Province travel to Kimberley to take on a Griquas side on a high after their comeback win against the Free State Cheetahs last weekend.

The WP coaching staff have done their homework and are confident they know what area needs to be focused on in order to get the better of the men from Kimberley.

“For us the biggest facet of the game against Griquas will be the breakdown. They are very destructive on your attacking breakdown and they lead the competition with turnover stats. That will definitely be a major battle this weekend," Proudfoot told the WP Rugby website.

He also reiterated the importance of keeping ball in hand. Griquas are very dangerous on the counter-attack, and Province want to make sure they don't fall into the same trap as the Cheetahs did last week.

“We are going to have to be forceful on our set phases and ensure we don't give away turnovers. We saw against the Cheetahs last week how dangerous they can be from turnover ball. We want to make sure we are controlling the tempo or else we could find ourselves with a mountain to climb in Kimberley," said Proudfoot.
