WP to deal with red cards

Cape Town - Western Province coach Allister Coetzee says the two red cards they received against the Sharks were unacceptable and will be dealt with internally.

Loose forwards Tyrone Holmes and Jebb Sinclair were both sent off for punching in their 43-27 loss at Kings Park in Durban on Saturday evening. A yellow card for Wilhelm van der Sluys four minutes from time ensured the Cape side ended with 12 players on the field as the home side grabbed a bonus point victory.

"Our discipline cost us. We gave away some soft penalties and although we were frustrated our emotions were not channelled  well on the night," Coetzee said in a statement released to the media on Sunday.

"Those two red cards (to Sinclair and Holmes) were unacceptable and we will deal with it internally. We have a protocol to deal with discipline in-house and we will deal with Jebb and Tyrone and then move on from here.

"Both Jebb and Tyrone showed plenty of remorse after the match, but what's done is done and we will move on and focus on our next match."

The good news for the Cape side was that no injuries were reported after the game.

WP, who have now slipped from first to third on the overall log, next face Griquas at Newlands on Saturday (15:00 kick-off).
