WP likely to lose Deon Fourie

Cape Town - Western Province captain Deon Fourie looks likely to continue his rugby career in France after the conclusion of the Currie Cup.

According to Rugby365, top French club Toulon has made the livewire hooker an offer.

Fourie said he hasn't made a definite decision yet, but has informed coach Allister Coetzee that he is likely to leave at the end of the year.

"It is still depending on what is going on so I am not going to confirm anything yet.

"Allister [Coetzee] knows that I have had an offer, but I am still focused on the Currie Cup, I am still here until the end of October," said Fourie.

The 25-year-old Fourie, who showed his versatility by also helping out at loose forward for the Stormers in Super Rugby this year, acknowledged that it may be time for a change of scenery.

"It will be nice, something different. I have been here for eight years now so maybe it is time to move in a new direction," he said.

Fourie will skipper WP when they take on the Golden Lions in a Currie Cup clash in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 17:05.
