Terblanche to captain Sharks

Durban - Stefan Terblanche will captain the Sharks from the outside centre position in their opening Absa Currie Cup rugby clash against Griquas in Kimberley on Saturday afternoon.

The 35-year-old Terblanche, who captained the team during last year's Currie Cup after Johann Muller was injured in the first round, will lead a side that has a mixture of youth and experience.

Young Pat Lambie retains the No 15 jersey after impressing at fullback during the Super 14, while Lions import Louis Ludik will make his senior Sharks debut at wing, with exciting Lwazi Mvovo making up the back three.

The ever-reliable Riaan Swanepoel will partner Terblanche at centre, and will play outside of the halfback pairing of Rory Kockott and Steve Meyer.

Keegan Daniel, Michael Rhodes and Jacques Botes make up the loose-trio in a capable-looking pack, with Springbok hopefuls Alistair Hargreaves and Steven Sykes starting in the second row.

In the absence of three Springbok front rowers, Patric Cilliers, Craig Burden and Wiehahn Herbst will carry the work-load up front.
