Lions ring changes

Johannesburg - Golden Lions interim coach Johan Ackermann has made wholesale changes to his team ahead of their Currie Cup clash against the Blue Bulls at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

Ackermann has made no less than eight changes to the run-on XV that lost 42-32 to Griquas last weekend.

In the front row, Callie Visagie replaces Banidse Maku at hooker, while Jacobie Adriaanse replaces CJ van der Linde at prop.

Other changes in the forward pack sees Hendrik Roodt replacing Joshua Strauss at lock and Cobus Grobbelaar replaces Jaco Kriel at flank.

In the backs, Michael Bondesio replaces Ross Cronjé at scrumhalf, Ruan Combrinck replaces Anthony Volmink at left wing, Alwyn Hollenbach replaces Butch James at inside centre and Deon Helberg replaces JR Esterhuizen at right wing.

Meanwhile on the bench, Van der Linde replaces Ruan Dreyer and will serves as cover for the props, while Jaco Taute will be on the bench in place of Deon Helberg, who starts.
