Stransky backs Lions - just
Johannesburg - Joel Stransky, who in 1990 was a member of the Natal team that famously upset Northern Transvaal for the Currie Cup trophy, is torn between selecting a winner of this year's final, but he gives the Golden Lions the edge by the smallest of margins.

“It’s such a tough one to call. I fancy the Lions, though, because they’re at home and made such a strong statement last weekend. They weren’t daunted because the Springboks were back. Then again, the Sharks have a fearsome front row, which adds a dangerous element to the mix. The Sharks also have a culture of playing well away from home, while this is a young Lions team who haven’t been there before. I’m going with the Lions because John Mitchell has given them a resilience and they will be confident of causing an upset.”
The match kicks off at 17:00.
Mark Lawrence will referee the match in his final appearance before retiring.
Meanwhile, all 59 000 tickets for the final have been sold.
