Stegmann, Greyling back for Bulls

Pretoria - Springboks Deon Stegmann and Dean Greyling are fit again and will be considered for the Blue Bulls' Currie Cup match against the Golden Lions at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

Stegmann (cheek) missed the last three matches, while Greyling (knee) sat out last weekend’s win over the Free State Cheetahs.

Utility back and former Springbok Sevens player, Ryan Nell, has also been cleared following a knee operation and will be considered.

Another player returning from injury is Duncan Matthews. The wing had a knee operation earlier in the season and will do selective training this week.

Four players involved in the win over Free State, Marvin Orie (chest), Travis Ismail (ribs) and RG Snyman (contusion) will only train on Tuesday, while Tian Snyman (calf) will only be back on the field by Thursday, team doctor Org Strauss confirmed.

Props Justin Forwood and Ettienne Swanepoel should be back in two weeks.

The long term injury list still have Irne Herbst (ACL), Piet van Zyl (ACL), Callie Visagie (foot), Morne Mellett (vertebral artery dissection) and Dennis Visser (ankle) who will be out for the rest of the year.

Nic de Jager (ankle) will have to undergo an operation that will keep him out for three months, while Hanru Liebenberg (small bowel rupture) will only return in two months.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
