Smit, Small-Smith back for Bulls

Pretoria - The Blue Bulls duo of flank Roelof Smit and midfielder William Small-Smith have been cleared for selection ahead of Friday’s Currie Cup clash against the Free State Cheetahs at Loftus Versfeld.

Small-Smith has been cleared following concussion and Smit will return to the training field on Tuesday, having recovered from a hip pointer injury, team doctor Org Strauss said.

RG Snyman, Werner Kruger and Marvin Orie sat out training on Monday due to light niggles, but Dean Greyling will only know on Thursday whether his knee will hold up for the clash.

Nick de Jager, who made his debut against Griquas on the weekend, strained his ankle and will undergo a scan.

Deon Stegmann is two weeks away from action, as is Justin Forwood, who is recovering from a rib injury.

Duncan Matthews will also be back in two weeks after his knee operation.

Irne Herbst, Piet van Zyl, Morne Mellett, Dennis Visser and Callie Visagie remain out for the rest of the season, while Hanro Liebenberg is expected back in 4-6 weeks.
