Sharks starting XV unchanged

2011-07-20 10:47

Durban - Eugene van Staden will face a late fitness test on his troubled hamstring to determine if he will make the Sharks bench for Friday's Currie Cup clash against the Pumas in Nelspruit.

The big prop was bracketed with Julian Redelinghuys among the reserves in the Sharks team named on Wednesday.

Van Staden was dropped from the starting XV in the only change to the match 22 that did duty in the 35-16 victory over the Blue Bulls in Durban last week.

He was replaced by Dale Chidwick in the run-on team, the Sharks announced, and if he failed the late fitness test, he was to be replaced by Redelinghuys on the bench.

Sharks coach John Plumtree opted for continuity, with rookie Mark Richards swapping wings with the more experienced Louis Ludik in the only other alteration to the team.

New captain Keegan Daniel, named Man of the Match last week, was again expected to marshal the forwards, while veteran back Stefan Terblanche, new signing Marius Joubert and Frenchman Frederic Michalak would all be key in the backline.

Teams

Sharks: 15 Stefan Terblanche, 14 Mark Richards, 13 Marius Joubert, 12 Meyer Bosman, 11 Louis Ludik, 10 Frederic Michalak, 9 Ross Cronje, 8 Keegan Daniel (captain), 7 Marcell Coetzee, 6 Jacques Botes, 5 Ross Skeate, 4 Anton Bresler, 3 Wiehahn Herbst, 2 Craig Burden, 1 Dale Chadwick

Substitutes: 16 Kyle Cooper, 17 Julian Redelinghuys/Eugene van Staden, 18 Jan Andre Marais, 19 Francois Kleinhans, 20 Jacobus Reinach, 21 Jacques-Louis Potgieter, 22 Sibusiso Sithole

  • Sh@rks Fever - 2011-07-20 10:55

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Sharks must just keep the momentum going now. We need another 5 points from this game. What bothers me a bit is why are they not televising this game but they televise the WP and Leopards game

      BLOODY AGENT - 2011-07-20 10:59

so why must they give preferance to the guppies?

      Rob van den Heuvel - 2011-07-20 11:11

From what I can gather, the decision on which games to cover is based on some sort of rotational system.

      Sh@rks Fever - 2011-07-20 11:22

Bloody Agent, Where did I say they should give preference to the Sharks. I was only asking why they don't televise which Rob now nicely explained. Have you got a guppie since you cannot stop talking about guppies. They are THE SHARKS

      docraven - 2011-07-20 11:40

Sharksfever...dont even bother. You are dealing with a delusional inbreed retard .Agent is still under the impression that the Bulls won against the Sharks on Saturday.Let him enjoy the ride.

      docraven - 2011-07-20 11:47

Agent, funny how you bring in other peoples sisters, daughters, mother's etc.Mention your daughter and who cry like a little suckling pig for its mothers tit.Sharksfever, i proved my point and rest my case...told you so.

      docraven - 2011-07-20 11:52

yes Agent.I proved my point about you today and have nothing left to say.You are a horny sick old man and you need help.

      Sh@rks Fever - 2011-07-20 11:53

Hey agent. My sister is a goth at about 130kg and says she loves you. So I am happy for her that she at last found a man altough she told me sometimes it feels like only half a man. For you sir I feel sorry...

      docraven - 2011-07-20 11:59

      Sharks...BWAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.Agent....nice one bro

      docraven - 2011-07-20 12:36

Carry on Agent, you just proving me right over and over again.Girls, Men,Shemen,Whores......never ends with you.Makes me sick that people like you exist in this beautiful country of ours and our great people. We trying to talk rugby here.

      docraven - 2011-07-20 12:36

I think judging by the last games played the Sharks and the Cheetahs really stood out.

      Bulldozer - 2011-07-20 13:29

Sparky, hoe's 2nd beach vandag? Seker vol beef.

      Logoll - 2011-07-20 13:57

they are not broadcasting this game because they weren't sure if it was an invitational team or an actual durban based team playing. Only joking but look at that backline only 9 and 14 are actually Durban guys. I know this is the professional era and I am not complaining about that, what I am complaining about is the fact that the Sharks is not developing players this is bad for rugby in SA overall. Look at WP we could have run to Europe and buy a flyhalf but instead we believe in developing players and now we are on flyhalf version 7 and 8 :)

      Shazred - 2011-07-20 15:29

@Logoll ha ha ha you are so funny :)... Are you talking about the same WP team that bought all the other teams players last year, or are we talking about another WP team. Shame are you referring to Freddy Michalak, he is supposed to be over the hill according to all you Sharks haters, but I guess he worries you.. Go and have a look at what the Sharks academy is producing, look at all our young players, they are all a product of the Sharks academy, so please come with a new one...

  • Raka13 - 2011-07-20 10:55

Ndungane, JP, Mvovo, Jacobs, The Beast. Hoe kan hulle dit help

  • Anneleen - 2011-07-20 11:45

Absolutely great to read Sharks news...GO SHARKS!!!

      BLOODY AGENT - 2011-07-20 11:50

Hi Anneleen se vir Ice dat Dozer mis haar

      jk - 2011-07-20 11:53

      lol

      Bulldozer - 2011-07-20 14:34

AGENT, dis nie nodig nie, sy is hier by my. Sy sê hello.

      Shazred - 2011-07-20 15:34

Hey Anneleen how you doing, good to see a friendly Sharks supporter... SHARKS RULE......

  • Moersteen - 2011-07-20 11:47

Mark Richards and Ross Cronjé are impressive! But so is the team as a whole. 'Cept Eier Bosman, who seriously needs to learn to tackle.

      Sh@rks Fever - 2011-07-20 11:59

100%. I think Bosman has also reached that point in his life where certain things like defense he doesn't do naturally anymore. His defense was shocking in the Super 15, but then the last three games he tackled like a demon and now he is just back to his old ways. I still say this and will continue saying this. Play Swanepoel at 12 and Potgieter at 13. I really want to see this combonation for a week or two.

      Rob van den Heuvel - 2011-07-20 13:50

@Moersteen - agree, keep an eye on Marcell Coetzee too.

  • Bulldozer - 2011-07-20 11:53

Hierdie klompie het laasweek gepeak. Van hier af is dit net afdraende.

      jk - 2011-07-20 12:03

dis al peak wat die bulle die volgende 10 jaar gaan sien is as ander spanne peak... maer jarrrrrre wat voorle, so bly eks klaar daarmee!!!

      Sh@rks Fever - 2011-07-20 12:05

      BLOODY AGENT - 2011-07-20 12:32

      Ek gaan vanaand peak

      Rob van den Heuvel - 2011-07-20 13:52

@Bulldozer - it is mathematically impossible to plot a peak ( or even a trough for that matter ) with only one piece of data, just saying :)

      Bulldozer - 2011-07-20 14:36

Rob, your first plot could be your highest point, and then from there one will get a steady decline, like in the case.

      Rob van den Heuvel - 2011-07-20 16:10

@ Buuldozer, by saying that the Sharks have peaked already and that it is downhill from here for the Sharks you are inferring that the Sharks will loose to the Pumas this weekend. Do you want to rethink that, or is that your position - idiot!

      Bulldozer - 2011-07-20 16:34

Rob, I never said they will lose. Maybe just not as dominant as last week and then further down from there, idiot!

  • Shnez - 2011-07-20 12:09

Good to see new young players who want to play rugby and win!!!!!

  • StBad - 2011-07-20 12:14

No offence to the Bulls but I think the prospect of playing an upbeat and confident Pumas side in Nelspruit will be tougher than last weeks home game against the Bulls

  • jason11 - 2011-07-20 13:37

i just wish the sharks would get rid of "eier-tossman". He cant catch a ball.

      Rob van den Heuvel - 2011-07-20 13:53

Agreed, nothing personal Mr Bosman - time to move on.

  • Jenny - 2011-07-20 14:06

    Ross Cronje, what a player!

      kosie - 2011-07-20 14:18

personally i think he is better than mcleod

  • Beryl - 2011-07-20 15:54

Go Sharks!!!!! Show them how to do it Mark Richards. You are the star of the Sharks

  • Rob van den Heuvel - 2011-07-20 16:28

If I were the coach, I'd be looking for opportunities to give Sibusiso Sithole a run just to see what he can do - opens up options for the remainder of the season.
