Rustenburg - The Sharks scored seven tries to secure a thrashing 51-6 Currie Cup victory over the Leopards in Rustenburg on Friday night.
While they might relinquish the lead to Western Province on Saturday, the Sharks are enjoying a strong run as one of the form teams in the competition.
The Leopards, on the other hand, were unconvincing, and without a win from the first six rounds of competition are flailing in bottom spot.
Flyhalf Neill Jacobs got the home side off to an early lead with a first minute penalty and the Leopards held their own in the first 10 minutes.
But after Lwazi Mvovo went over on the right wing in the 11th minute, the Sharks stole the show, dominating the rest of the game.
Jacobs struck back with another penalty in the 15th minute but those six points from his boot were all the hosts were able to accumulate.
Sharks flyhalf Patrick Lambie, 19, added two long range penalty kicks to give the visitors a 13-6 lead.
In the 31st minute the Sharks barged over after a lineout on the Leopards' five-metre line with prop Patrick Cilliers dotting down for a try which was converted by Lambie.
Four minutes later the Sharks scored again in a replay of that set piece. After another lineout they barged over again with number 8 Willem Alberts touching down and Lambie converting.
In the dying minutes of the first half fullback Louis Ludik dotted down for the bonus point try on the right wing to give the visitors a 32-6 lead at the break.
The Sharks ran away with it in the second half with scrum-half Rory Kockott bursting over five minutes after the restart.
Kockott converted his own try, and another in the 56th minute when Sharks captain Stefan Terblanche scored the first of his brace of tries to wrap things up.
