Senatla released to play for WP

Cape Town - The South African Rugby Union (SARU) has confirmed that several Springbok Sevens squad members have been released to play in the upcoming Absa Currie Cup competition, which kicks off on Friday, August 7.

Seabelo Senatla (wing) will turn out for the defending champions Western Province while Kwagga Smith (flank) has returned to the Golden Lions.

Ruhan Nel and Sandile Ngcobo (centres) will be in action for the Griquas, who recently secured their spot in the Currie Cup Premier Division after winning the Qualifier competition.

Two of Ngcobo’s SA Sevens Academy team-mates, Lungelo Gosa and Sibahle Maxwane, have joined the Under-21 teams of the Golden Lions and Western Province, respectively.

Currie Cup Week 1 fixtures:

Friday, August 7
Griquas v Western Province, Kimberley - 15:30
Pumas v Sharks, Mbombela Stadium - 18:00

Saturday, August 8
Free State Cheetahs v Blue Bulls, Free State Rugby Stadium - 14:15
Eastern Province Kings v Golden Lions, Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium - 14:15
