Season over for Lions centre

Cape Town - Golden Lions centre Stokkies Hanekom has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after breaking his leg.

According to the Lions' official website, Hanekom fractured his right fibula during last Friday night’s 26-23 Currie Cup loss to the Sharks in Durban.

In a further blow, fullback Andries Coetzee will be out for two weeks after suffering a groin strain in the captain's run ahead of the match in Durban.

The Lions tackle Free State Cheetahs in their final round-robin match at Ellis Park this weekend.

They are currently second on the overall Currie Cup log.
