Potgieter signs with Bulls

Johannesburg - EP Kings utility forward Jacques Potgieter has joined the Blue Bulls on a two-year contract.

The Bulls said on Wednesday that Potgieter, who was one of the standout players for the Kings in their recent Nations Cup appearance in Bucharest, Romania, would link up with his new team on November 1.

"Potgieter, who is equally adapt in playing at lock as he is at loose forward, has been making a huge impression with his robust and energetic displays for the Kings in the (Currie Cup) First Division," the Bulls said in a statement.

Born and bred in Port Elizabeth, where he played for Eastern Province Schools, Potgieter had a stint with the Natal Wildebeest side while attending the Sharks Academy, but returned to the Eastern Cape in 2009.

Potgieter believed the move would lift him to a new level as a player.

"The Bulls are the best team in the country and one of the top sides in Super Rugby," Potgieter said.

"I believe my approach to the game and their style of play will be a perfect fit.

"I am keen to join an outfit with a track record of Super Rugby and Currie Cup success and believe this move will be highly beneficial for me as a player and a person."
