Potgieter boost for Bulls

Cape Town - The Blue Bulls will be able to call on two forwards - Jacques Potgieter and Dewald Potgieter for the remainder of the Currie Cup season.

According to the Beeld newspaper, Dewald Potgieter is fit again after undergoing an operation to his broken nose. He will be considered for the Bulls' clash with the Sharks at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

Jacques Potgieter - who signed a deal with the Bulls from the EP Kings earlier this month - has been released early from his contract and will join the Pretoria-based outfit with immediate effect. Initially, he was only due to join the Bulls on November 1.

He will provide a much needed boost up front to a team that has struggled thus far in the Currie Cup with most of its stalwarts away on Springbok duty. The 26-year old is equally adept at playing lock as he is at loose forward.

The now former EP Kings stalwart will be able to start training with his new team-mates on Thursday, but won't be considered for the clash against the Sharks as coach Pine Pienaar is expected to name his team on Wednesday.

Pienaar is expected to pick Juandré Kruger at lock and Bjorn Basson at wing. Both missed last week's game against the Leopards with ailments.
