Pollard boost for Bulls

Pretoria - Junior Springbok flyhalf Handré Pollard will train with the Blue Bulls on Monday and if all goes well, will be considered for their Currie Cup match against Griquas at Loftus Versfeld on Friday (19:10 kick-off).

Bulls team doctor Org Strauss confirmed that Pollard has fully recovered from a shoulder injury and will be able to play on the weekend.

Prop Wiaan Liebenberg (concussion) and utility forward Jacques du Plessis (shoulder) will only train on Tuesday, Strauss said.

Unfortunately there was not such good news for stalwart wing Akona Ndungane, who will be out of action for another week following a hamstring strain.

Wing Courtnall Skosan has also been cleared after a quad strain and will be fit to travel to London, where the Blue Bulls Sevens team will play in the inaugural World Club 7s at Twickenham.

The long term injury list still consists of Basil Short (knee), Francois Hougaard (ankle), Cornell Hess (knee), Deon Stegmann (shoulder), Arno Botha (knee), Pierre Spies (bicep), Louis Fouché (knee) and all will be out between three to six months.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
