Cape Town - Jaco Peyper has been rewarded for his outstanding performances in the 2012 season by being named as referee for Saturday’s Absa Currie Cup final in Durban.
Kick-off is at 17:00.
Peyper, who made his Test debut at Tier 1 international level in 2012, will take charge of the match between The Sharks and Western Province. It is his first Currie Cup final appointment.
“The appointment was made on merit as Jaco has had an outstanding season,” said Andre Watson, SARU GM: Referees.
“The decision was based on feedback over the season from provinces and from our own assessments. All appointments for finals are done on merit; this is SARU’s showcase weekend in terms of domestic rugby and we owe it to all stakeholders to provide the best possible service.”
SARU also announced that the Under-21 and Under-19 Cup finals will be refereed by Lourens van der Merwe and Rasta Rashivenge respectively.
Craig Joubert will take charge of the second leg of the Currie Cup promotion/relegation decider in Port Elizabeth on Friday night.
