Van der Spuy in WP midfield?

Cape Town - Centre Michael van der Spuy could feature in midfield for Western Province when they tackle the Sharks in a Currie Cup encounter in Durban on Saturday.

Juan de Jongh is struggling with a hamstring injury and according to backline coach Robbie Fleck his chances of being declared fit is "50-50".

Fleck, in an interview with Die Burger's website, said Van der Spuy would play in midfield alongside Damien de Allende should De Jongh fail in his bid to be fit for the top-of-the-log clash.

Springbok skipper Jean de Villiers would stay on the bench. Fleck said the plan is to give De Villiers a "physical and psychological breather".

Kick-off at Kings Park is at 19:10 on Saturday.
