Lions forced into two changes

Johannesburg - Xerox Lions coach John Mitchell has been forced to make changes to the side that took them to wins in their last two matches, for Friday night's Absa Currie Cup match against the Platinum Leopards at Coca-Cola Park.

The injury-enforced changes are on the wing and at flank.

Right wing Deon van Rensburg has a broken hand that will keep him from the field for three to four weeks. He is replaced by Jannie Boshoff.

On the flank Derek Minnie, although bracketed with Renaldo Bothma, will start off the bench if at all, according to team manager Mustapha Boomgaard.

His place in the starting line-up is taken by Joshua Strauss, who has been impressive in his appearances from the bench.

Tighthead prop Ross Geldenhuys is also under an injury cloud, and will be replaced by Ruan Dreyer if he isn't fit to face the Leopards.

In other changes lock George Earle has earned a rest and is replaced by Johan Snyman while Edgar Marutlulle reverts back to the bench after two starts with Martin Bezuidenhout back in the run-on side. Snyman has only recently recovered from injury.

The team is:

Jaco Taute, Jannie Boshoff, Waylon Murray, Doppies la Grange, Michael Killian, Elton Jantjies, Jano Vermaak, Warren Whiteley, Joshua Strauss, Renaldo Bothma, Franco van der Merwe (capt.), Johan Snyman, Ross Geldenhuys/Ruan Dreyer, Martin Bezuidenhout , JC Janse van Rensburg.

Replacements: Edgar Marutlulle, Wayne Swart, George Earle, Derek Minnie/Jaco Kriel, JP Joubert, Burton Francis, Pieter Engelbrecht.
