Lions change for Griquas clash

Johannesburg - Golden Lions coach Johan Ackermann has announced his side to take on Griquas in a Currie Cup encounter at Ellis Park on Saturday.

The side shows a few changes from the one that lost 36-23 to Western Province at Newlands last week.

Among the forwards, Jacques van Rooyen moves into the starting team at loosehead, while hooker Willie Wepener is also promoted from the bench with Julian Redelinghuys starting at tighthead.

Franco van der Merwe returns at lock after his stint with the Springboks, while Warwick Tecklenburg will start in the No 6 jersey.

At the back, Andries Coetzee shifts to inside centre and Chrysander Botha to fullback, with Deon Helberg starting at right wing.

Meanwhile, new inclusions on the bench, Bees Roux and Lambert Groenewald, will provide cover for the forwards.

The Lions are currently fourth on the overall Currie Cup log and a win over the men from Kimberley would seal a semi-final berth.

Kick-off is at 15:00 on Saturday.
