Liebenberg boost for WP

Cape Town - WP will welcome back hooker Tiaan Liebenberg for their Currie Cup encounter with the Free State Cheetahs at Newlands on Saturday.

WP coach, Allister Coetzee has released an injury report ahead of this week's Absa Currie Cup, Round Two preparations.

WP, the defending Currie Cup champions, opened their 2013 campaign with a 24-24 draw against the Blue Bulls this past Saturday and will take on the Free State Cheetahs at Newlands this coming weekend.

The only injury doubt after last weekend is utility back Cheslin Kolbe (knee), whilst hooker Tiaan Liebenberg (back) looks set to make his return to action after missing the latter stages of the Super Rugby tournament.

Flank Rynhardt Elstadt and flyhalf Gary van Aswegen sat out training on Monday afternoon, but neither are in doubt for the Cheetahs clash.

"Cheslin is about 50-50 at this stage," Coetzee said, who himself is battling with a heavy cold

"We certainly won't rush him into the Cheetahs match but we will give him until Wednesday."

"Tiaan has been working hard on his fitness since getting the all-clear to resume full training.

"It's always great to welcome back an experienced player and we all know the additional leadership and energy that he brings to the team."

Kick-off for the encounter is scheduled for 19:15.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
