Kings to rope in Michael du Plessis?

Cape Town - Former Springbok centre Michael du Plessis is being linked with a possible coaching role at the EP Kings.

According to Netwerk24, EP management are keen to get Du Plessis involved at the union in some sort of capacity.

It’s uncertain in what capacity they want  to utilise Du Plessis, but it could be as technical advisor or director of rugby.

The Kings’ Currie Cup coach, Brent Janse van Rensburg, is still inexperienced at top level and Du Plessis’ insights may aid him in his cause.

Du Plessis, 56, played eight Tests for the Springboks between 1984 and 1989. He represented Western Province, Eastern Province and Transvaal at provincial level.

This news comes after it was reported earlier in the week that the Kings were also lining up former SARU chief executive Edward Griffiths.

According to The Herald, Kings president Cheeky Watson confirmed that the union had discussions with Griffiths who earlier this year left his post as CEO at Saracens after seven years in charge.

Griffiths may become CEO or manager at the Kings.
