Key test for Sharks centres

2011-08-17 16:13

Durban - Sharks coach John Plumtree is hoping his centre pairing will start to gel after reinstating Meyer Bosman and Marius Joubert to his starting XV for their Currie Cup encounter against the Platinum Leopards in Durban on Friday.

Bosman had struggled with his form and was dropped against Western Province last week.

Joubert, who joined the Sharks from French club Clermont Auvergne prior to the competition, had also failed to settle at his new home, although he had been hampered by an ankle problem.

"It’s up to them now, both have enough experience at the top level to know what the game’s all about,” said Plumtree.

"They’ve just got to work out how to play off each other, that’s the key thing.

"With Marius, it always takes a little bit of time to settle into a new place while Meyer got dropped after the Griquas game and I’m looking forward to seeing how he reacts to that."

The Sharks have won four out of their five matches so far, with the solitary blip coming in Kimberley against Griquas two weeks ago.

      Sh@rks Fever - 2011-08-17 16:56

Still a very impressive team. I think Sitole is another star in the making. Shit that guy as some serious gas in the tank. Our pension club in the midfield has to shape up though. My first choice would still be Riaan and Adi but who am I to go against Plum's choices. GO SHARKS!!! We need 5 points. And I will keep the mouth shut about ths being an easy game. These bottom of the log teams like the Leopards Pumas and Bulls can give you a serious run for your money.

S@arks Fever, it is a pity that the Shark management did not use this game as match practice for two u21 centres. What happened to the talented youngster, Mark Richards? I see he is excluded from the team.

      Malcolm - 2011-08-17 16:39

Nice to dream hey WP? By the way I won't be surprised if your side get shown up by the Lions.

      gooinat - 2011-08-17 16:42

@Malcolm,like your side got shown up against Griquas and almost against a very young Province side who only had one Springbok in the backline unlike the Sharks who had a international backiline and still could not break our defence.

      WPBLIKSEM - 2011-08-17 16:44

@Malcolm- I'm positive that we'll beat the Lions. I hope you comment on the FACTS raised by gooinat, because it is so TRUE!!!!!

      Malcolm - 2011-08-17 17:00

Sharks were complacent against Griquas and in addition the played well, so well done to them. Against WP our scrum was far stronger but the rookie referee penalised us. Where else do you see the dominant scrum being penalised? If you watch the replays you'll see Brok Harris getting away with not binding properly. Eugene van Staden failed to bind properly on only one occasion and got penalised. The unfair scrum penalties kept WP in the game.

      Sh@rks Fever - 2011-08-17 17:02

WP Bliksem and gooinat why always the excuses. I might as well say it was more a pension club than an international backline that you refering to kicking your asses. Accept it like men. I accepted it when you beat us twice this year.

      gooinat - 2011-08-17 17:09

@Sharks fever,I have excepted our loss and I congratualated there supporters on there win but when you get guys saying that Province were drubbed by the Sharks etc, they dont know what they talking about.By the way we have beaten you guys three times this year if you include the NEO CUP:):):)Good luck Shark fever against the Leopards!!!!!!!!

  • ChumScrubber - 2011-08-17 18:17

Can't understand why Adi gets so little game time, things always happen when he's there. A wasted talent I say - unless there are other reasons?

  • Sh@rks Fever - 2011-08-17 21:59

@Gooinat. You are correct. YOu can barely say we kicked your asses and understand what you are saying. And please note in my previous comment I said I could just as wellsay, so I know it was tough and K@K conditiona and one penalty could have made the difference. But we won on the day and I was extatic. Goodluck against the Lions, it's gonna be your toughest game yet.Very few disrupptions in their team unlike the rest of the top teams.

  • greenpea - 2011-08-18 07:24

@WPBLIKSEM you my friend are an idiot if you think the leopards will beat us in our own back yard, either that or your just sour after last weekends game or is it last years final? either way, grow up and be a man, not a little girl, ciao

  • Oukoos - 2011-08-18 12:26
