KZN ANC has faith in Sharks

Durban - The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal was confident on Thursday that the Sharks would once again do the province proud by winning the coveted Currie Cup rugby trophy.

African National Congress provincial spokesperson Sihle Zikalala said history had shown that the Sharks had the upper hand over Western Province in Durban.

"We congratulate the Sharks for having reached the final and we are confident that our hard-working local boys will once again do our province proud," he said.

The Sharks will host the Western Province in this year's Currie Cup final after victories over the Blue Bulls and the defending champions the Golden Lions in last Saturday's semi-finals.

The final will be played at the Kings Park Stadium on Saturday, with the kick-off scheduled for 17:00.

Zikalala said the ANC was proud of the union's achievements and the role it had played in uniting the people of the province.

"We call on all [the] people of KwaZulu-Natal to be fully behind the Sharks, a team that oozes with lots of talent," he said.

"We look forward to the entertaining and dazzling game on Saturday and wish the Sharks the very best of luck."
