Cape Town - The Golden Lions look likely to start with Elton Jantjies at flyhalf in their Currie Cup encounter against Western Province at Ellis Park on Friday.
Jantjies was benched for the Lions' game against the Bulls at Loftus Versfeld last week, with Marnitz Boshoff starting in the pivot position.
However, Jantjies came on as a substitute after 46 minutes and performed well as they demolished the Bulls 62-23.
Boshoff himself played well and had a stellar day with the boot, converting all 10 of his attempts at goal. He was moved to fullback when Jantjies came on after Chrysander Botha injured his hamstring.
And according to the Beeld website, Botha is set to be sidelined for a few weeks which could see coach Johan Ackermann pick Boshoff at fullback and Jantjies ant flyhalf for the WP game.
Jantjies will be eager to impress against the Capetonians, as he struggled while on-loan to the Stormers during this year's Super Rugby competition.
He was heavily criticised by the Cape media and fans, which should be enough incentive to want to show his worth against the Cape side.
Ackermann said Jantjies showed his worth last week when he came on at Loftus.
"I think we could all see Elton's worth when he came on to the field. He is brilliant with his attacking play and doesn't miss tackles.
"He and Bossie (Boshoff) complement each other really well. We decide on a weekly basis who we'll pick (at flyhalf), depending on how we want to play.
"Bossie's boot was vital (against the Bulls) and it really helped us get out of our own half with his right foot and Elton's left," said Ackermann.
Friday's clash kick off at 19:10.
