Griquas hunting WP's Moller

Cape Town - A crisis at prop has forced Griquas to hunt for reinforcements - with forgotten WP prop JD Moller firmly in their sights.

Steph Roberts (shoulder) and Jean Botha (neck) are unavailable for their derby Currie Cup clash against the Free State Cheetahs on Saturday, leaving them with only two props - Lourens Adriaanse and Ivann Espag - fit to play.

This has prompted coach Abré Minnie to draft in Griffons prop Kevin Stevens on loan to provide front row cover on the bench.

"Kevin joins us so that we can evaluate him," Minnie told the Volksblad newspaper.

Minnie also acknowledged that they will attempt to lure another prop to Kimberley for the rest of the Currie Cup season.

"We are also looking at attaining the services of someone like JD Moller (Western Province)," said Minnie.

Moller has fallen out of favour with the coaching staff in Cape Town and hardly featured this year for the Stormers in the Super Rugby competition and for WP in the Currie Cup.

He could thus be the ideal candidate for Griquas to target as he would crave some playing time at the top level of the domestic game.
