Griquas change three for FS

Johannesburg - Griquas coach Pote Human made three changes to his run-on side for Saturday's Currie Cup encounter against the Free State Cheetahs in Kimberley.

Human dropped winger Wilmaure Louw and centre Jean Stemmet from the side with Lions loan player Jannie Boshoff and former Leopards stalwart Walter Venter replacing them at wing and centre respectively.

"Jean has got potential, but he didn't perform as expected against Western Province," Human said.

"The same goes for Wilmaure while both Jannie and Walter have proven themselves in the past and are welcome additions for a game that we simply must win."

Fullback Willie le Roux is back in the starting line-up after serving a one-week suspension for a dangerous tackle against the Blue Bulls.

Francois Brummer will move back to flyhalf with Marnitz Boshoff returning to the bench while Jacques Coetzee will be the scrumhalf.

"We know that Johan Goosen makes his return for the Cheetahs and he will partner with Sarel Pretorius," Human said.

"We are well aware of Goosen's kicking ability and Pretorius's mindset on the attack, so discipline wise and on defence we will need to be accurate."

The Griquas mentor also bolstered his bench with five forwards and only two backs, an indication that Griquas expect a tight battle up front.

"We have a huge amount of respect for the Cheetahs forwards and for that reason we've chosen to go with a five-two combination on the bench," he said.

"It is going to be a huge clash up front and we want to be ready."
