Johannesburg - "You know as much as I do," said Golden Lions Rugby Union CEO Manie Reyneke on Wednesday when asked whether Western Force coach John Mitchell will coach the Lions this season.
The former All Blacks coach has been linked to the Lions and is said to be taking up a position with the side which didn't win a single match from 13 in this year's Super 14 competition.
Mitchell, however, said there have been discussions regarding coaching in the Currie Cup but that it will only be between now and the next Super rugby season. Should he take up the position, he will stand in for Lions head coach Dick Muir during the period in which Muir will be away with the Springboks as assistant coach.
However, Mitchell has made it clear that he will see out his contract with the Western Force before he takes on a full-time coaching job elsewhere. Mitchell is contracted to the Force until the end of next year's Super 15 season.
