Cape Town - Thomas Jantjies, the father of Lions flyhalf Elton, told Beeld he doesn't understand why his son wasn't included in the Springbok touring party to Australasia.
Jantjies, 22, is yet to make his Test debut despite being in the Springbok squad on a few occasions. He was a member of the Bok squad for the series against England in June. In that series he was a replacement in the third Test in Port Elizabeth but wasn't utilised.
And on Wednesday he was excluded from the Bok touring party for the Rugby Championship games against Australia and New Zealand down under.
Twenty-year-old Cheetahs flyhalf Johan Goosen was picked ahead of Jantjies as Morné Steyn's deputy for the tour.
Jantjies Snr said it won't influence his son in a negative manner.
"He is positive and will work hard to earn a place. He says he's still going to play 100 Tests for South Africa and will perform until they pick him one day. That's the motivation he uses."
Jantjies last week steered the Lions to a 26-23 victory over Western Province in Johannesburg when he kicked seven penalties, one coming after the hooter to win the game.
And this week he's back at Coca-Cola Park when the Lions take on Griquas on Friday night. Kick-off is at 19:10.
