Cape Town - Western Province are unlikely to opt for Kurt Coleman at flyhalf ahead of Demetri Catrakilis in Saturday's Currie Cup final against the Golden Lions at Newlands.
Former Springbok coach Nick Mallett has called for the inclusion of Coleman, who is a more attacking player. Mallett believes Coleman has the ability to bring the best out of WP's dangerous outside backs like Cheslin Kolbe, Seabelo Senatla and Kobus van Wyk.
However, Catrakilis was vital to WP's cause at the weekend when they beat the Blue Bulls 31-23 in the semi-finals. He contributed 16 points with the boot including a late drop goal which proved vital in the undoing of the Bulls. His clever chip-kick through for Van Wyk also set up one of Kolbe's tries.
Coach Allister Coetzee told Die Burger he was pleased with Catrakilis's performance.
"Demetri was outstanding with his goal-kicking and that drop goal. His confidence levels are very high because he knows he is the first-choice flyhalf."
Saturday's final at Newlands is scheduled to kick off at 17:00.
