Bulls to decide on Morné

Cape Town - The Blue Bulls will decide on Monday what Springbok players they will use for their final round-robin Currie Cup game against the Golden Lions on Saturday.

The Bulls, who beat WP 26-13 on Friday, still have a chance of making the semi-finals if they beat the Lions at Coca-Cola Park, so the decision to use some of their Bok players is an important one for coach Pine Pienaar.

"I'll first have a chat with Dewald Potgieter (Bulls skipper) and then the returning (Springbok) players," Pienaar told Beeld. "We'll take the injury situation at the Boks into consideration, as well as how much game time each player had. Just look at a player like Juandré Kruger - he hasn't had playing time in a while.

"They're all quality players. I know some of them have a burning desire to play Currie Cup rugby. If they want to come in and make a difference, they'll be welcome."

Loose forward Arno Botha, who was called up by the Boks last week, and Jacques Potgieter will definitely play, according to the coach.

Then there's also the big decision on whether or not to pick flyhalf Morné Steyn. Steyn had a nightmare for the Springboks recently, which led to his axing at the expense of Johan Goosen for South Africa's last two home games in the Rugby Championship. He has since been given time to rest.

And Pienaar admitted he's uncertain if Steyn will be brought back.

"I don't know if Morné currently has a desire to play, but if he's eager and wants to do well, I'll like to bring him on board," said Pienaar.

Their clash against the Lions kicks off at 19:10 on Saturday.
