Cape Town - Blue Bulls coach Pine Pienaar is adamant that they can turn their Currie Cup season around, despite languishing in sixth position on the log.
The Bulls were outplayed by the Sharks at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday, losing 39-27. The men from Pretoria have now lost four of their eight games this season, including two home defeats - a rarity for a team so used to notching up win after win at their home fortress.
But despite their dire position on the log standings, the coach is nevertheless confident that they are still in with a shout in the competition.
“I believe the players we have are the right ones we need to turn the season around, we have the potential to do it,” Pienaar told the Beeld newspaper.
“On Saturday, we played against ourselves unfortunately. We made way too many errors and conceded too many penalties. If you fall behind early like we did (16-0 after 18 minutes), you start chasing the game and become too anxious.”
He did, however, admit that it won't be an easy road if they are to qualify for the knockout phases.
“It is almost knockout rugby for us from here on and we will have to win all our matches to get into the semi-finals.”
