Brüssow set to miss Currie Cup

Cape Town - The Free State Cheetahs' Springbok flank, Heinrich Brüssow, looks set to play no part in the remainder of the Currie Cup due to a rib injury.

Brüssow left the field early in the Springboks' 11-9 Rugby World Cup quarter-final defeat at the hands of the Wallabies.

According to the Volksblad newspaper, Brüssow arrived in Bloemfontein on Wednesday and probably won't play any part in the Currie Cup.

"I'm not yet exactly sure how severe my injury is and I still need to visit a doctor. I think it's cracked," said Brüssow.

He is definitely ruled out of the Cheetahs' clash against Griquas at the Free State Stadium on Saturday - and will in all likelihood also miss their semi-final a week later. He experienced problems with his ribs even before the clash against the Australians.

The Cheetahs' clash against their neighbours from Kimberley kicks-off at 15:00 on Saturday.
