Chiliboy out for three months

2009-11-24 10:48

Johannesburg - Blue Bulls hooker Chiliboy Ralepelle, will undergo a foot operation on Tuesday and Bulls team doctor Org Strauss, estimates he will be sidelined for at least three months.

Ralepelle injured his foot earlier this year while with the Boks. The injury recurred in the second round of the Absa Currie Cup - and on the year-end tour to Europe it was evident the stress fracture hadn't healed completely.

* The Bulls reassembled at Loftus Versfeld on Monday to start their preparation for the 2010 Super 14 tournament, and apart from Ralepelle's stress fracture, there aren't any other injury concerns in the camp.

The Bulls will train in Pretoria until Friday, December 4, whereafter they will depart for George for their annual summer camp.

Get well soon Chilie Boy, for the Boks this is probably Positive news.

Pitty! Should have been for longer. Strauss is the man

  • Joe Bob - 2009-11-24 11:04

Best news i have heard all year.

  • CHILIBULL - 2009-11-24 11:04

Who Cares - he's overated and doesn't cut it.never did ..never will.....but will probably end up as Bok skipper one day !!!

  • andre - 2009-11-24 11:17

ag nee man, now the starting hooker for the bulls must start... the... match... o wait. Luckily the reserve reserve hooker of the bulls is a springbok, so he will step in for the reserve hooker who is also a springbok to cover the bulls first choice hooker who isnt a springbok. Almost forgot about old Gary Botha... another springbok hooker on the bench.

  • chillisux - 2009-11-24 11:20

hopefully now the powers at be will see he is injury prone and will never be able to last a season of high end rugby let alone captain south africa - Dewald as the next captain and im a sharks supporter! Pull Finger Bokke

  • anonymous - 2009-11-24 11:25

Thank heavens! Now the selectors will be protected from making another mistake. With so many hookers around, he is not worthy of the Springbok colours - as is his mentor and biggest supporter, John Smit, at the moment.

  • Robson Mandu - 2009-11-24 11:28

Thank goodness. The day he becomes skipper of the boks is the day I start watching badmington or golf instead of rugby. He is way over-rated.

  • Sharky Andrew - 2009-11-24 11:34

@Chillisux - I disagree, I think Fourie Du Preez should be the next Springbok captain.

  • D - 2009-11-24 11:42

    That's really no great loss.

  • Say what... - 2009-11-24 11:43

Damnit, now to keep the quotas Adi stays in the back line....

  • RUDOLF - 2009-11-24 12:06

No problem. From hospital bed to starting line-up and captain. If the hospital thing takes too long we may have our first captain directing play via SMS from the hospital. That is what technology is for is it not. Go Divvie. Use technology.

  • Bulls Supporter - 2009-11-24 12:07

Oh no! This is terrible news. There is no way that the Bulls will be able to win the Super 15 without Chilliboy. We are finished!

  • Chillipop! - 2009-11-24 12:11

Best news that i've heard in a while! Stay injured for at least another 10 years or so... By then he would retire and SA would have a quota free captain :)

  • Chillisux - 2009-11-24 12:26

@Sharky Andrew - great leader but going forward we will need a young leader who can take us past 2011 for two world cups and i dont see Fourie lasting that long... at the John Smit breakfast he did mention future leaders as Bismark, Ryan or Pierre... interesting!

  • Hairy lip - 2009-11-24 12:44

Chill out!! Why so much "hate mail" folks? Chilliboy does not deserve all the written bashing as he does not select himself, not for the Bulls, nor the Boks - If you want to express your venom, blame the selectors & politicians. Remember that Chilliboy is a mere rugby player who is injured and deserves time to recuperate, just as any of our "stars" would be afforded the same courtesy. Andre, you have a way with words my man, albeit tounge in cheek, and I concur with your sentiments. Such a ludicrous & laughable situation could only happen in SA!! Got to just love our ongoing predicament, but in the same breath feel some big time sympathy for those who should be wearing the green and gold deservedly...

  • zola - 2009-11-24 12:46

Chili my Boy get well soon, Bafana will take you, we need a good goal keeper. You will be able to jump left and right, no running needed, otherwise you will get injury again, eish! sho sho.

  • Herman - 2009-11-24 12:55

Moet mens nie eers bietjie rugby speel vir ernstige beserings nie. Hoe doen jy 'n ernstige besering op van die "bench"?

  • HC - 2009-11-24 13:01

Why all the fuss about a wannabe, for FS!! Don't we have better quota players?

  • Blikperd - 2009-11-24 13:15

    AWESOME

  • Dgs - 2009-11-24 13:35

    Who cares?

  • Andre - 2009-11-24 14:09

Poor man, whether he deserves the jersey or not. Give him a chance.Did anybody think about how his kids would feel about the abuse? he's not my hero anyway.Where is the WP front row?Surely they proofed themselves as top front row against many teams?

  • Brendan - 2009-11-24 15:17

Feel for the player, so hope he heals up well. And when he's back, I hope logic is applied and he has to EARN his place in the team.

  • pots - 2009-11-24 17:29

More test (bench) caps than game minutes....

  • Morris - 2009-11-24 17:47

Go chill my boy! And return with some chilly rather than chill, please.

  • tom - 2009-11-24 18:57

geez so effin what. he sucks ! the bulls are lucky and so the boks

  • Gatt Miteau - 2009-11-24 22:44

What a great country S.A. is. People celebrating when one of their own gets hurt. No wonder the place is going to hell.

  • Ag nee! - 2009-11-24 23:02
