Christchurch - All Black flyhalf Dan Carter resumed training with the Crusaders on Tuesday after a one-season sabbatical in France.
Carter, who played for Perpignan in France last season, returned to Christchurch and is raring to make his mark once again in the Super 14 competition.
"I haven't picked up a rugby ball since the All Blacks end of year tour to the UK but feel really refreshed and ready to go,” he told the Crusaders official website.
"I'm really looking forward to getting into this season with the Crusaders."
The Crusaders will play their first pre-season game against the Reds in Brisbane on January 29, followed by a match against the Blues in Motueka on February 4.
They open their Super 14 campaign this year with a New Zealand derby against the Highlanders at the AMI Stadium on February 13.
