CJ joins London Irish

Cape Town - Springbok prop CJ van der Linde has signed a deal to play for English club, London Irish, for the remainder of the European season.

Van der Linde, 33, moves from the Golden Lions, who he represented in 2013.

London Irish said on their official website that the tighthead prop will join up with their squad next week.

London Irish Director of Rugby, Brian Smith, welcomed their new addition: “CJ is a 70 plus cap Springbok and has been brought in to replace Halani Aulika as a starting tighthead. He’s a world class scrummager and will bring a lot of experience and composure to our pack, particularly at scrum time.

“His arrival is timely as we look to re-establish ourselves as a dominant scrum in the Premiership. I know Glenn Delaney and Phil Keith-Roach are keen to work with a World Cup winning tighthead.”

The 75-Test veteran previously represented Free State, Leinster (Ireland) and Western Province.

London Irish also recently attained the services of another international, Wallaby James O'Connor.
