Bulls to return to Soweto

Johannesburg - The Bulls will be heading back to the scene of their famous 2010 Super Rugby victory in Soweto when they face the Lions in a pre-season friendly on February 2 next year.

With the Bulls celebrating their 75th anniversary of the founding of the Blue Bulls Rugby Union in 1938, the game will kick off their year of celebration and return to what can arguably be seen as one of their greatest rugby victories of all time, the supersport.com website reported.

The Bulls are also likely to target a number of Lions supporters this season, with this being the first chance for them to do so.

The Lions were excluded from the 2013 Super Rugby championship and will play a series of friendlies next year as they prepare for a promotion-relegation game against the lowest-performing SA side in the competition.

With no Super Rugby in Johannesburg, it seems the Bulls will be hoping to lure some rugby fans to Pretoria to get them to watch Super Rugby action.

The Bulls were forced to move their Super Rugby semi-final against the Crusaders from Loftus Versfeld to Orlando after a clash with the 2010 FIFA World Cup, as Loftus was a venue for the tournament.

They won in sensational style and beat the Stormers in an all-South African final which broke several broadcast records and set an amazing tone for nation-building in South Africa.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
