Bulls place Bees on leave

Johannesburg - Blue Bulls' Bees Roux has been placed on leave by his club until further notice following his court appearance in connection with the murder of a traffic official, club executive officer Barend van Graan said on Tuesday.

"He has been through some tough times in recent days and we feel it is appropriate to give him some time to recover from this," Van Graan said.

Roux was arrested early on Friday morning following the death of metro policeman Johannes Mohale in Pretoria.

Mohale, 38, is believed to have been beaten to death in a sequence of events that is not yet clear.

Roux was granted bail of R100 000 by the Pretoria District Court on Monday after spending the weekend in jail.

He intended pleading not guilty to charges of murder and driving under the influence of alcohol, the court heard. The matter was postponed to October 15.

It emerged on Monday that Roux's credit card was used at a McDonald's fast food outlet at a time he was supposedly in custody.
