Cape Town - Pine Pienaar has been given the boot as Currie Cup coach of the Blue Bulls.
Pienaar coached Bulls' Currie Cup side since 2011 without much success. They failed to reach the semi-finals in 2011 and were soundly beaten 20-3 by the Sharks in the 2012 semis, before again missing out on the knockout phases in 2013.
Frans Ludeke, who is head coach of the Bulls in Super Rugby, will again take over as Currie Cup coach.
Pienaar will still be involved with the team though, fulfilling the role of defence coach as he currently does for the Bulls' Super Rugby team.
Meanwhile, kicking coach Vlok Cilliers is also not employed full-time by the union anymore. He has helped the Bulls' kickers since 2005, but his contract was not renewed at the end of 2013.
He will in future only work with the team on a consultancy basis.
