Brown re-signs with Force

Sydney - The Force have strengthened their already impressive backrow with Richard Brown re-signing with the Super Rugby franchise.

The one-year deal means the 27-year-old joins fellow loose forwards Matt Hodgson and Ben McCalman to recently commit to the Perth club, who also boast star Wallabies flanker David Pocock.

Brown played all but one match in the 2011 Super Rugby season, but missed the Rugby World Cup after opting to have shoulder surgery.

Brown, who has earned 23 Test caps, said he was excited to be staying in Australia after the disappointment of not being available for the Wallabies this year.

"It has been difficult to watch from the sidelines over the past few months," said Brown, who plays at No.8 or blindside flanker.

"But making the decision to take some time out and get back to maximum fitness will hopefully open greater opportunities to represent my country going forward."

An inaugural player at the Force, Brown surpassed 50 Super Rugby appearances last season and is the third most capped player in the club's history.

Brown is the 22nd player to re-sign with Australian Rugby this year.
