Bolla in Stormers' plans

Cape Town - Forgotten Springbok and Stormers scrumhalf Bolla Conradie has been included in their plans ahead of next year's Super Rugby competition.

Die Burger newspaper reports that the Cape side started their preparations for next year's competition on Monday.

Conradie, hooker Clemen Lewis and flyhalf Elgar Watts, are the Boland players in coach Allister Coetzee's pre-season plans. All three played pivotal roles in helping Boland claim the Currie Cup First Division title this year.

However, Watts will only be available in February after undergoing a shoulder operation. "Elgar will only be ready to play in early February. The decision to let him undergo an operation was made for his own good in the long term," Eugene Eloff, Boland's coach said.

Watts will realistically only be ready for the Stormers' last pre-season game against the Eastern Province Kings on 11 February.

He was in Coetzee's plans last season but poor goal-kicking cost him a place in the squad. But Watts has since improved markedly and had a great season with the victorious Boland side, boasting an 80% goal-kicking ratio in the First Division.

The Stormers will start their pre-season matches in late January with clashes against the Lions and the Sharks at home in the Neo Africa Tri-Series, which will be followed by two friendly encounters against the EP Kings and Boland.

Stormers' pre-season programme:

Stormers v Lions, 27 January, Newlands (Neo Africa Tri-Series)
Stormers v Sharks, 4 February, Newlands (Neo Africa Tri-Series)
EP Kings v Stormers, 11 February, Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Port Elizabeth
Boland v Stormers, Boland Stadium, Wellington (Date to be confirmed)
