Edinburgh - The Springboks suffered a huge setback after their 29-25 victory over Wales on Saturday as wing Bjorn Basson was ruled out for the rest of the tour because of an ankle injury picked up during the match, the South African Rugby Union said in a statement on Sunday.
Basson sustained a grade two ankle sprain in the team's second consecutive victory on tour.
Although he did not get much ball throughout the match, he impressed under the high-ball and came close to scoring a try, but his handling skills let him down at a crucial stage.
A decision on whether to call for a replacement had not been made, as Sharks wing Lwazi Mvovo is in the group but is yet to earn his first Test cap.
