Boks face world champs Wales

Johannesburg - South Africa, chasing their first IRB Sevens World series title, play World Champions Wales in the first match when the England tournament at Twickenham starts on May 23.

The Springboks, needing only 13 points from this and the Scotland tournament a week later to clinch the title, have Germany and Australia in their pool.

The young Australians have improved considerably this season, but the Boks on their form over the season should be able to handle both Australia and inconsistent Wales while Germany should not pose any problems to Paul Treu's team.

Hosts England, who were still tied with the Springboks going into the Hong Kong tournament but then dropped back to trail South Africa by 28 points, are the top seeds in Pool B where they are grouped with France, Samoa and Georgia.

Fiji, in third place on the IRB standings but 30 points behind the Springboks, have the dangerous United States, Kenya -- who are no longer regarded as giant-killers but a class side in their own right -- and Scotland to contend with in Pool C.

New Zealand face Canada, Portugal and Argentina in Pool D.

Springbok coach Paul Treu has made it clear that his side will be chasing the title in both the England and Scotland tournaments and will not just be aiming for the 13 points needed to secure the IRB title. However, a win in England or even being the losing finalists at Twickenham will secure the IRB title.

South Africa will face the second team from Pool B, which should be England or Samoa, in the quarter-finals.
