Bok shocks on the cards

Hendrik Cronjé

Bloemfontein – A few Springbok shocks may be on the cards if the Bulls and Stormers both make the Super 14 final.

Coach Peter de Villiers may not just be forced to consider players such as Daan Human (Toulouse), BJ Botha (Ulster), CJ van der Linde (Leinster) and Joe van Niekerk (Toulon), but also open the door for a number of locally-based players for the Test against Wales in Cardiff on June 5.

De Villiers has already indicated that he will not consider anyone that plays in the final, which means that Super 14 players such as Cheetahs fullback Hennie Daniller and wing Bjorn Basson are suddenly in the picture.

Sport24 has learned that the two are already travelling to Cape Town on request of SARU to get their travel documents in order.

A number of South Africa’s top wings and fullbacks such as Bryan Habana, Gio Aplon, Joe Pietersen (all Stormers), Francois Hougaard, Zane Kirchner and Gerhard van den Heever (all Bulls) will be involved in a possible final.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
